“Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them,

and they that are great exercise authority upon them.

But it shall not be so among you:

but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister;

And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:

Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto,

but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.” (Matthew 20:25-28, KJV)

The word the Athenians used for their Assembly was Ekklesia, the same word used in the New Testament for Church
(and it is the greatest philological irony in all of Western history that this word,
which connoted equal participation in all deliberation by all members,
came to designate a kind of self-perpetuating, self-protective Spartan gerousia -
which would have seemed patent nonsense to Greek-speaking Christians of New Testament times,
who believed themselves to be equal members of their Assembly.)

OUR QUEST WILL GO ON!

Last Saturday the community received an email from the recently appointed parish council.  The president went to Denver to discuss the matter but came empty-handed.  Did he really return empty handed, or did he come back with yet another agenda?  According to an alleged new directive from His Eminence, they need to appoint an additional four parish council members so they can be in conformity with the UPRs!

Eleven people for approximately 45-60 days are not enough, but eight appointed members were enough for a year and a half?  Where have the UPRs been for the last three years minimum?  Almost ten years have passed since open and fair elections.  Fr. Kouremetis and Fr. Gilbert with the blessings of the Metropolitan have made sure of that.  Why is Fr.Kouremetis pushing to have Dr. Beck back on the parish council?  Wasn’t he excluded by the Metropolitan for not complying with his wishes?
Why does Fr. Kouremetis not want to have a meeting with the parish council Monday, insisting
that Fr. Gilbert needs to be present?  What section of the UPRs state that you need two priests to have a meeting?  Why in the past has he allowed meetings while he was the only priest present?
Why the stall tactics?

We asked that the new parish council not to fall in this trap.  Fr. Kouremetis has lost his quest to split the community and he is going to use anything and everything to hang on.  Fake miracles will not save him anymore.  The president did not come back with a letter from His Eminence stating OPEN and FAIR elections. Nowhere in the email do we see the words OPEN, FAIR ELECTIONS.  The email “ριχνει σταχτη στα ματια” to the community is merely a form to pacify us.  As such, the UNITY GROUP will go forward with ELECTIONS.

If His Eminence and his clergy will prove their HONEST intentions IN WRITING, then and only then,
we might trust them.

Charles Beck should not only NOT be a Parish Council member, he should NOT BE AN ARCHON!

Anyone who would deign to have his name submitted without a proper and ethical designation on a corporate entity that existed for nearly a year, SECRETLY, in an attempt to abscond with a portion of our UNITED community's assets, without knowledge or consent of the General Assembly, should NEVER be put in either position. If others over the years were refused candidacy for the Parish Council based upon ridiculous charges of "ineligibility", based on specious "wrongdoings", then most certainly Dr. Beck should be DISQUALIFIED!

The next miracle I want to see involves arrests and handcuffs.

Let me get this right, we need 15 but we had 8, then we went down to 6, then up to 17, and now we're at 11. Math ain't his strong suit.

Steve, maybe he has an icon of Houdini that removes handcuffs.
