“Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them,

and they that are great exercise authority upon them.

But it shall not be so among you:

but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister;

And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:

Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto,

but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.” (Matthew 20:25-28, KJV)

The word the Athenians used for their Assembly was Ekklesia, the same word used in the New Testament for Church
(and it is the greatest philological irony in all of Western history that this word,
which connoted equal participation in all deliberation by all members,
came to designate a kind of self-perpetuating, self-protective Spartan gerousia -
which would have seemed patent nonsense to Greek-speaking Christians of New Testament times,
who believed themselves to be equal members of their Assembly.)

ΦΙΛΟΤΙΜΟ: THE GREEK SECRET

And justice for all...

On January 25 Metropolitan Isaiah instructed his clergy, "I am instructing the clergy to give the Affirmation of Office to all the above parishioners at the end of the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Trinity Cathedral on January 29, 2012, since the last affirmation of office was given at the Prophet Elias parish.” “For the sake of the unity and the well-being of the Greek Orthodox community of Greater Salt Lake and its suburbs, I urge all of the 17 council members to work together....".

Even though we know that one person turned down the invitation and two more were out of town, only nine out of the 14 remaining were present at Holy Trinity. They did not  go to Holy Trinity as they were instructed by his Eminence.

Why the five chose not to take the oath at Holy Trinity ?
Who instructed them, to act this way ? Just wondering who would do such a thing?
" According to the regulations of the Archdiocese, and immediately after the Divine Liturgy, the first meeting of the new parish council will be presided over by Father Michael Kouremetis or Father Matthew Gilbert for the election of the officers of the council, after which the new parish council will be under the new president."

It seems to me that the metropolitan is not taken seriously by his clergy.
Will these five  be sworn in on Saturday?

I hope his Eminence does the right thing!
"I pray that all the members of the new parish council will demonstrate true unity and Christian fellowship....".
How badly did they betray the Metropolitan? None of them deserve to be sworn in, this coming Saturday.

Fr. Kouremetis' tactics are too obvious. The fake miracles, are over for good.

I hope and pray that his Eminence will  finally realize that his clergy has been directing him the wrong way.

Time will tell.

This has always been the 64 million dollar question:

1) Has the Metropolitan been instructing the clergy to divide us?

or

2) Has the clergy been giving false facts to the Metropolitan that produced his actions over the last few years?

or

3) Has the Metropolitan and the clergy been working together to divide us for whatever reason?

I believe the future actions taken by the Metropolitan in the next few days will give us our answer.

Mr Jim Sefandonakis:

I believe your options are accurate but there's another to consider. It is a blend of your options. First, The Metropolitan believed the clergy and wanted to divide the community as previously with the former Proistameno Fr John Kaloudis.

Now the Metropolitan realizes the wall to climb over built by the united GOCSLC is so well fortified that he has chosen to change direction again. How many more times will this happen to the community only God knows. Well consider what the book of James says regarding this type of irratic behavior."A double minded man is unstable in all his ways" (James 1:8 AV).

Marshal Dillon was taken to the woodshed by the Metropolitan. That's a gall darn shame.

Rod Serling would have a field day here in GOCSLC, no one could make this stuff up. "Oh, this is a good one".

Welcome to the Salt Lake "Interim" Parrish Counsel restaurant.

Here is our menu of officer sandwich specials...

Last weeks special of "interim" Parrish officers sandwich is bacon, lettuce and tomato.
This weeks officer sandwich special is... lettuce, tomato and bacon and
next weeks special is tomato, bacon and lettuce. Hmmmm, these sandwiches all seem to taste the same. Maybe because they're all served by the same chefs from Denver and the church offices. I wonder what they're cooking up next? "Interim", it's bad mood, food. Can't you just see Michael in the back going...ding, "order's up." Oh, and here's the bill...$147,000.00 before tips and gratuities. Now, the fine print. We reserve the right to excommunicate anyone at anytime for any reason. Bonn appetite everyone.

Congrats to the new interim board. If you want to heal some wounds immediately, at your Monday night meeting, fire Kouremetis. Show the Archdiocese we will not be lied to by their assigned employee. Forget UPR'S under State law you have every right to fire him. The clergy stated a few years back they did not need the help of a third priest, the board said we have no money for a third priest, reduction in force, completely legal. So do the right thing and begin the healing.
