“Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them,

and they that are great exercise authority upon them.

But it shall not be so among you:

but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister;

And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:

Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto,

but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.” (Matthew 20:25-28, KJV)

The word the Athenians used for their Assembly was Ekklesia, the same word used in the New Testament for Church
(and it is the greatest philological irony in all of Western history that this word,
which connoted equal participation in all deliberation by all members,
came to designate a kind of self-perpetuating, self-protective Spartan gerousia -
which would have seemed patent nonsense to Greek-speaking Christians of New Testament times,
who believed themselves to be equal members of their Assembly.)

Comments on BANANA REPUBLIC ORTHODOXY AT ITS FINEST!!!

Dear All,

Our Metropolitan single handedly defies the Holy Eparchial Synod.  Compare his two last letters to the March 24, 2011 Archbishop’s letter.

He marches to HIS OWN DRUMMER!  He refuses to follow and implement a single request from the Holy Eparchial Synod.  He is content to tell us that HE alone is our master.  He is so deficient in “self esteem” that he wants “to prove” his point.  He wants us to kowtow to his unreasonable demands.  He does not understand that respect is earnedit cannot be imposed.

What a contemptible arrogance!  It is sinful.

Is there any reason why we should follow his directives?

May God have mercy on his soul “when he goes to sleep.”   Δέν θα είναι ο ύπνος του δικαίου?  Τι ψυχή θα παραδώσει??? Πρεπει να πιστευουμαι οτι ενας ανθρωπος σαν και αυτον πιστευει?

There are no words that can describe the damage that he, with his minions, has created in our community.

Ευτυχώς που ο Θεός ειναι Μεγάλος και τα βλέπει ΟΛΑ!

And he is not man enough to come and tell us personally;  he is hiding behind his chancellor.

Nick

I remember a sermon once, where we were told "the road to hell is paved with priests and bishops". Amen.
